New Development at 434 Atwells Ave.
Our third Parish Meeting was held on Saturday, August 26 2023. An update was provided about the repointing of the Church.
In June of 2023 I was given new guidance from the Diocese about how to move forward. I was told to have an architect provide a not-to-exceed bid for a conditions assessment of the parish and rectory.
As of late August 2023 only one firm has been returned my calls. Two others were not available and attempts are still being made to arrange something with another firm. One bid is to be expected in the next few weeks but we will require at least one more, and perhaps a third.
Once the bids are in I will ask about what to do next and then share that will all of you.
Rev. Francesco Francese
Each year every parish has to financially support Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Providence. We can do that in two ways; by sending money to the Catholic School Office or by sending money to particular schools to help offset tuition for our parishioners. The same amount of money has to be spent either way.
Families must make a request each year and the amount of money we can give to each student will depend on how many request we receive and on family needs, for which we take the FACTS results into consideration. If there is a high amount of requests that means we may be able to help more students, but with each receiving less.
High School tuition assistance is a special case. Assistance to High School students is limited, requires proof of need from the FACTS assessment and is only granted by the Diocese as an exception. We have to ask permission for those requests before we can grant the assistance.
